All design is for users. That's the reason to create persona before you start your design. Using persona is important to help focus on user-centered design. It always remind designer that design is for users not for designer himself. However a persona can only describe one type of users, it can't meet all users needs. Users needs is important but not always correct and a designer don't have to provide new feathers when one or more users ask for them. Hockeman means designers should find out users' really needs to design their product instead of just simply looking at users disposition or users activities. I believe not all users know what they really want. It is designers job to do research or survey or user test to find out what users really want and then design it.
For project 2, we did user test to a stuff work in SRSC. Even he can't fully complete our user test. I guess majority of people they think they know how this function works but they really don't. It is designers job to find out what they really know and really needs.
