It was interesting to see the dynamic change in the book going from always design for the user, not for yourself, to talking about how the user is not always correct. The individual user is not always right and therefore new features should not be added simply because a few people ask for them. Having a wider variety of personas available would be a scenario in which a designer could consider implementing changes if they benefitted the majority of the population. But it is better to design for situations rather than users. A user will be able to adapt to any changes or additional features that a designer has deemed necessary. Going back to Project 2, I think it would have been better if my partner and I had asked more than one person to test out the machine that we chose so we could have had a better idea of what would have benefitted the general population.
