An obvious design is one that is simple to use and can be navigated through with ease. When a person is using an obvious design they are able to figure it out quickly without much direction. In order to keep a design user friendly an obvious design uses only features necessary to lead to user to the end result in a timely fashion. In order to make an obvious design you need to know 1. what the build 2. what makes it great 3. know the best way to implement it. (pg 13) A design I felt was a good example of an obvious design was ticketmaster.com. The home page makes it easy to find exactly what you are looking for very quickly. It gives you the option to search for a certain artist, arena, sport, etc. but also includes categories on the left side to help narrow down searches. When searching for an artist in the search box it quickly leads you to a page that includes different cities that artist is performing in, what venues, and what events. It also conveniently shows the date and a quick link to ticket options. This creates an easy and quick way for the user to find the tickets they are looking for. It gives you the option to shop by date, price, etc. The layout of the website is user friendly and needs little to no direction in using it. It is a self explanatory website that can be navigated through smoothly.
