I
think Help systems are beneficial for users who are beginners and have no
experience whatsoever with the product or application. However, I do not
believe these tutorials should be susbstitutes for good design. The chapter
brings out that getting started guides and video tours are not efficient since
the user can not read information on how an application works at the same time
they are using an application. Instead of focusing on creating tutorials to
help the user learn it would be wise to integrate a welcome screen into the application screens
themselves and remain contextual. This allows users to learn how to perform
tasks without preventing them from using it at the same time.
When developing personas for Project 5 some
categories of people to focus on include the target audiences of the superhero
such as the hero’s fans’. The new gadget would also have to appeal to a younger
audience who are buying toys and reading the comics. The gadget should also try
to attract users that maybe are not superfans but enjoy watching the movies and
are informed about the superhero.
